Meet & Greet Gatherings with Father Neil

Fr. Neil will be having a series of “Meet & Greets” with members of the Grace congregation to get to know folks better and answer the question: “What should I know as your Rector?” These small gatherings of 8 to 10 people will be hosted by various parishioners in their homes, at Grace and virtually through ZOOM. They will be taking place during the months of April and May. These will be scheduled during weekday evenings, afternoons, and weekends. Lite fair and beverages will be served at all in person events. Please sign up to attend an event on the sign up sheet in the Parish House and provide your time availability, meeting preference, and best contact information. We will be in touch with you if space constraints for in-person meetings require a date or time change.

What is an Acolyte?

When you enter the church, you are greeted by an Usher. Our beautiful Music is led by the Choir and our Organist. The lessons are delivered by our Readers, and Communion is led by Fr. Neil and assisted by the Chalice Bearers and the Acolytes. We are all ‘Serving’ in our various roles.

The Grace Church Acolyte Guild is looking for new members (ages 8-101). Acolytes have many roles: The

‘Crucifer’ carries the cross leading the choir, servers, chalice bearer and priest in and out of the service; the ‘Taper’  carries the small candles; the ‘Server’ helps during the Gospel reading, setting up the Communion Table, and collecting the offering plates. During special services the ‘Thurifer’ carries the incense. These are very important roles in our Communion services, and it takes a team!!

If you might be interested in learning more about becoming an Acolyte, Fr. Neil and Nora Bollinger will be having an information meeting on April 28th, right after the 10:00 service. Please prayerfully think about making this a part of your ministry at Grace.

St. Paul’s Food Basket March Update

Our shoppers and contributors got enough food for us to pack 26 family bags and 50 homeless bags. Thank you Bill Irving, Denise Sikorski, Amada Smith and Carol Shindle. It was our largest number of bags so far.

On Sunday our team or workers (Amanda Smith, Carolyn Campanella, Marian Schenke and Al Schmidt) handed out all 76 bags of food by 10:30. We had 3 more people stop by as we were packing up, we offered some cans of food and pasta and the addresses of pantries open nearby, but there were no takers. Below is a measure of how many people we helped this month:

Children (0 - 17) in Assisted Households: 52

Adults (18 - 59) in Assisted Households: 130

Seniors (60+) in Assisted Households: 11

Thank you for all you are doing to help feed the needy. We’re always looking for more people to participate in this ministry! Contact Al Schmidt (al.schmidt@verizon.net) to get involved.

United Thank Offering

The United Thank Offering (UTO), a ministry of the Episcopal Church, encourages us to weave a sense of awe and gratitude into the daily tapestry of our lives -- and then to make that gratitude visible with a monetary contribution to support worldwide projects for mission and ministry. The UTO awards anywhere from twenty to fifty grants per year for such needs as the expansion of a home for abandoned, neglected, and abused children; a van for an emergency food pantry that covers a vest rural area; and a missionary school in Uganda.

If your thankful heart can help, look for the blue and white envelopes at the back of the church every Sunday through the month of May, or send a check in any amount to the church office (marked UTO). The members of St. Anne’s Guild thank you profusely.
